Chess is the way of Life. Chess teaches us the value of co- ordination and accuracy. It has a vast history since from immemorial time, chess has been considered as one of the most popular and most important games in India. These were the inaugurator’s words during opening ceremony of Gurukula Inter-School Rapid Chess Tournament on 10-11-2018 in our school campus. Dr. Ramamohan, popularly known as ‘Family Doctor’ addressed before the crowded audience and participants and focused on importance of Chess Tournament in Schools and Colleges. Over 300 participants from Udupi , Uttarakannada, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga and Chikkamagalore districts attended the Tournament in Under 8, 10, 12,and 17 Categories. Mr. Saleem Beig from Bangalore was appointed as the Chief Arbitor of the Tournament. All the six rounds in each category was conducted smoothly and set for Reward Ceremony. The Reward Ceremony was presented by our Joint Managing Trustee, Shri. Subhashchandra S Shetty and congratulated all winners with attractive Trophy, Medals and Certificates. The entire programme guided by the Principal of our School, Shri. Aravind U Marali throughout the day. Attended participants applauded about the entire organization and expected from our school to conduct such Tournament in the year ahead.
Nearly 78 Different Prizes were given to all the winners in 8, 10, 12 and 17 categories. Apart from these winners, many Students were selected as youngest players, Gurukula player and competitive player in both Boys and Girls categories.
